A 3-day residency is a great way to start something new and try out previously unthinkable ideas, meeting new people across various genres; in which I forced them to play outside of what they categorise as “ordinary”. Acoustic drums, looped with constant sound without any sustain, wide-ranged percussions, and baritone guitar, but played from a percussive perspective (touched, without pressing). I have never made music with tone nearing to nil like this, and the process towards orchestrated rhythmic provides the perfect foundation to accompany the screeches and screams of Prepared Cornet/Trumpet.
Organic sounds have their own playground that is difficult to compare, even natural mistakes sound beautiful due to their humane nature. The piano tracks serve as resting moments in between the madness, yet their true meanings still tire the heart. Do enjoy my traumatic period from time to time, wrapped in colours.

Last Boy Picked felt like a thematic, 7-track full-length exploration of Tesla Manaf’s anxiety and grief through aggressive, yet controlled, instrumentation. A far departure from the approach that he took for his debut Black Shirt Attracts More Feather under the name KUNTARI. Tesla experimented with brass instruments, percussions, and even strings, like guitar (which he decided to hung for quite some time) for the compositions in Last Boy Picked, taking a more, strictly-speaking, analogue approach, contrasting that of his 2020 debut.
