Artist Statement:
It has been almost 2 years since the peak of what I feel that all my 23-years achievements had been slowing down my creative process. Having the baggage of stringed instruments and tens of trophies and commendations during those times had me hesitating in looking back. It is then when I mustered up my courage to face something that was then quite alien to myself, be it physically or environmentally, in exchange for an extraordinary experience that I may not going to be able to have again in the future. The first step has always been the greatest barrier in the art process, and whatever the result was for that first step, I managed to break through that said barrier. This album is a perpetual process of struggle in career treading from literal sketch, armed with own’s imagination and social pressure, captured in the form of an album containing 7 songs that summarises my experiences within the last 2 years. Loud, blaring thumps of synthetic drums are the fuel of my zest and panache in this brand new world, and other small noises deliberately made present as a reminder to stay grounded. Touches of chords here and there are the proof of my relief that I have made a significant appreciation towards the process of sound processing.

A relentless figure of determination and pure fascination towards the art of sound, Tesla Manaf might be one of the newest kids on the block in the field of synthetic sound processing. Starting off from a more formal context in music and ending up in the world of contemporary jazz before leaping into the abyss of the unknown world of experimental music (of course relative to Tesla at that time), Tesla’s brave turn raised questions and doubt for quite a number of people (even loathing for some) but his reasonings have always been honest and sincere. “Black Shirt Attracts More Feather”, Tesla’s debut album as his latest persona, KUNTARI is a frank take on his thought process and changes after his leap 2 years back.
